• Jack Stickles purchases the company
• Entered pesticide business as a regional dealer to fruit and vegetable industry
• At the time local greenhouse industry was approximately 100 acres |
1970’s
• Expanded to service row crop and tobacco customers.
• Became custom soil fumigators for greenhouses.
• Enter the field vegetable seed business.
1979 • Perry Stickles purchases Art Morse Growers Supplies.
Name changed to Morse Growers Supplies Inc.,
• Greenhouse industry still modest but continues to grow.

• Enter the water soluble fertilizer business
• First importer of biological controls for commercial greenhouses (First signs of
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
1987 • Initiate sales of greenhouse seeds (hybrid varieties)
1988 • Pioneered importation of stonewool media
• Local greenhouse industry 300 acres

1990’s
1992 • Became a key member of a national distribution alliance
1993 • Shifted focus to specialty horticulture (primarily greenhouses and golf courses)
• Exited row crop and tobacco business.
1994 • Change name of company to MGS Horticultural Inc.
• Entered into agreement to exclusively distribute greenhouse varieties from a Dutch seed producer
1996 • Became Biobest Canada’s Exclusive distributor for Pollination and Biologicals.
• Local greenhouse industry 600 acres

2000’s
2001 • Exclusive Canadian relationship with Mardenkro shading products
2004 • MGS begins custom bulk delivery of fertilizer which would evolve to become MGS SelectTM
• Exclusive BASF Turf product distributor
2005 • Purchase shares back from Plant Products Co. Lt. to become 100% owned by Perry Stickles.
• Local greenhouse industry grows to 1300 acres
• Engage in horizontal supply and distribution agreements with national partners to
continue providing a national distribution solution
2008 • MGS Select TM is officially launched with great success and further developed for all
the markets we serve.
• MGS Horticultural (USA) established based in Michigan
2009 • Enter into Exclusive Greenhouse Seed distribution agreement for Canada
and the USA with Syngenta Seeds.
2010 • Perry Stickles retires from day to day at MGS Horticultural Inc. maintaining ownership
and Chris Stickles takes over as CEO and Julie Reiter as CFO.
2011 • MGS Horticultural launches update interactive Web Site and MGS Select TM evolves
into an online ordering tool,, MGS SelectTM OnLine |
